New Participants Wanted for MS Research at Queen’s University Belfast

We are now recruiting new volunteers for the Belfast Eye and Multiple Sclerosis (BEAMS) Study.

Who can take part?

🔹 People living with Multiple Sclerosis
🔹 Healthy volunteers (controls)


About the Study

BEAMS uses advanced, non‑invasive eye imaging to investigate how MS affects the visual system.
Our early findings have identified novel retinal changes linked to MS, highlighting the importance of this research and its potential to support future monitoring tools and treatments.

By getting involved, you will help advance MS research and contribute to improving care for people across Northern Ireland and beyond.


Eligibility Criteria

People living with MS

✔ Diagnosis of relapsing‑remitting MS

Healthy volunteers (controls)

✔ No MS
✔ No known inflammatory conditions

Not eligible

❌ People with certain eye conditions, including:

  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetic eye disease (DR)
  • Age‑related macular degeneration (AMD)
